The Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset is a repurposed state-of-the-art building that has been adapted to serve patients, their families and staff with diagnostic imaging solutions.

Located in Somerset, the centre is perfectly placed to offer patients a relaxing environment, easy access, free parking, and is minutes away from the NHS Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, enabling close working links with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The centre has been collaboratively designed with a patient-centric focus which determined its functionality whilst meeting all current building regulations and accessibility requirements.

Access to our services are available to self-pay and private patients under medical insurance (subject to approval) and NHS patients who are treated under contract to Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. All of our registered centres undergo a registration inspection by the independent healthcare regulators (Care Quality Commission) to ensure that the quality and safety of services meet the required standards of care. In addition, ongoing inspections are undertaken and where these have taken place, full reports are made available on our website.

Our services

Our patients are at the heart of what we do, and we endeavour to provide every one of our patients and their family/carers with a comfortable and welcoming environment. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities feature the very latest in advanced imaging technology, which allows us to deliver diagnostic imaging solutions in the most effective way.

Services are available Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am to 8pm. The Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset provides a range of diagnostic imaging services, for adults of all ages, including:

MRI Diagnostic imaging (1.5T):

A fully comprehensive MRI imaging service will be available which includes but is not limited to:

Neurology
Musculoskeletal
Cardiology
Specialist whole body imaging (for the detection of disease progression

Computed Tomography (CT):

An all-encompassing non-acute CT imaging service will be available which includes but is not limited to:

Head and whole-body imaging
Specialist CTC (CT Colonoscopy)
Radiologist guided MSK interventions (Steroid injections)

Ultrasound Services:

A full range of non-acute ultrasound imaging services will be available which includes but is not limited to:

Abdominal and gynaecological examinations
Vascular evaluation (DVT, Carotids and vascular access)
MSK to include ultrasound guided injections

Outpatient Consulting Rooms:

NHS consultants and consultants with practising privileges have access to our consulting rooms for both private and NHS patient interactions.

Our facilities

Our facilities consist of state-of-the-art imaging suites at the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset. We want you and your family/carers to access our services in comfortable and welcoming surroundings.

All staff are responsible for upholding the visions and values of the company and for underpinning our fundamental standards of care. We have fully equipped waiting areas with refreshments and comforts to make your visit for your imaging as relaxing and pleasant as possible. Free WIFI is available throughout the centre.

You are welcome to bring family/carers/friends when you visit for your imaging appointment, however, due to the nature of some imaging techniques, it will not always be possible for your companion to accompany you into the imaging suites. If you are bringing children with you to the centre as visitors, please bring along an additional adult to supervise them during your imaging session, as we do not have a crèche on site.
